BIOGRAPHY OF TERRI WILTSHIRE

Nineteen years ago Terri moved from Dallas, Texas to Newport, South Wales where she runs her a corporate role-play business, Terri Wiltshire and Associates. She trains and manages 25 actors who work all over the country utilising theatre-based exercises to teach various communication skills through role-play, forum theatre and storytelling.

As a trained actor and experienced director her first love has always been the theatre and along the way she’s found many unusual ways to keep it alive (and prove her parents wrong!) Soon after university, she landed a job with NBC News in a regional U.S. television station. She started work as a field journalist, moved on to Sports Presenter but within a year she graduated to presenting the news every night at 6 & 10. Within four years she also wrote, produced and presented her own weekly 30-minute programme on the Arts.

She left broadcasting (just about the time her parents were adjusting to having a mini-celebrity in the family) and worked as a public speaker and motivational trainer. She was guest speaker and trainer for over 48 national conferences and workshops before starting her own retail design company Double-Takes in Dallas, Texas.

Once she moved to Britain she lectured for eight years in Business Studies, Communication Skills and Media, published six children’s books (Kingfisher & Heinemann), sold three screenplays and one teleplay (to Disney UK), sold the film rights to her first novel and worked as a technical writer for several U.S. and U.K. blue chip companies and government agencies. For the last four years she has concentrated her skills on HR training (as assessor, trainer and role-player) using her theatrical training to teach basic communication and relationship building, public speaking and presentation skills.

During this time she has continued to write, direct and act in over 65 productions, both professionally (with touring companies) and as guest director in community and educational theatre.
